Goodreads is a great website but warning: this could be addictive to readers! I'll add more books when I have time and have my booklist in front of me, but I just quickly searched for and added 9 books I've remembered as being goodreads--there'll be more, I'm sure! AND they send out an e-newsletter with book reviews and recommended reads--from which I've already picked more books to read! This is truly a GOODREAD!

Well, after playing with Fliker several weeks ago, I've probably forgotten more than I learned, but I did discover that I had to sign up for yet another email account, so I just played around without committing myself (or is that being committed?) and managed to look at some photos and find a few to post or learn how to post my own. So far, so good! Moving on to more Things!

After re-reading the assignment, I'm not sure I've completed all the Flikr stuff, so I'm trying again to master mashups. Wish me luck!

I thought those of you who've never met my husband might like to see that he does, in fact, exist! This is part of a group shot taken in March 2006 as we prepared to depart Highlands for a trip to Gautier, Mississippi. Our mission was to help rebuild homes for people who had been displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

This was my first experiment after exploring Flikr and deciding NOT to sign up for yet another email account. I used Blogger's photo upload tool, which works easily (for me, that's a must). I'm still playing with adding photos--so watch this space!

Things #1-12

Well, I finally had to make my own list of things, since I can't seem to keep up with what I'm supposed to be doing and what I've already done. So far, I'm floundering somewhere in the middle of thing #5, having signed up with Bloglines and added three of our FRL blogsites to my subscription list, along with a couple of other sites I think will be interesting.

So, I guess, after looking at my list and Sarah's instructions, I have actually completed all things through thing #6 ! This is fairly slow going, since all this is unfamiliar territory, and I keep having to do "real" work (wait on patrons, answer the phone, etc.) in the middle of other things.

AND my brain gets overloaded easily, so I have to just quit for a while and do something more familiar!

OK. I must admit some trepidation in learning this new stuff. I find myself constantly correcting, editing and/or adding to my early blog posts as I learn more about how this all works. I keep getting interrupted, so it's hard to find spots of time to work on this project and have it make sense--even to me, much less the rest of the population who might stumble across it.

For me, the most difficult of the 7 1/2 habits is technology. Although I work with computers and the Internet all day long and use a computer at home, I grew up in a household that valued reading rather than television, sports or listening to music. Part of my resistance is generational, but some of it may be fear of having to learn something new--yet again.

The easiest of the 7 1/2 habits is accepting responsibility, which may help overcome the fear of learning something new! I've always been a very responsible person, often to my own detriment!

All the other habits seem pretty easy for me, and things I do naturally, or have learned to do along the way.

I do believe strongly in lifelong learning, so hopefully I can conquer my dislike of technology and embrace this ever-changing beast.
